I work with many clients who choose not to search for positions in December. They tell me they are too busy with family, friends, and shopping to begin the process. I politely and diplomatically share the information that employers do actually hire in December and competition is not as fierce since most people choose to wait until after the first of the year to seek employment. Not everyone believes me…
Well, now the numbers have confirmed it as ADP reported that employers added 297,000 jobs in December 2010. This is 197,000 over the 100,000 everyone predicted. Not to shabby.
I am hearing the groans now…“Geez Bridget, I wish you would have shared this LAST month.” And yes, I know. If I would have had my crystal ball to share numbers in the future, I promise I would have shared it. But, it is good knowledge for many Decembers to come.
